Another Raptor Motorcross Win
#1
I was unable to ride again but my Raptor did. I was going to ride this one but my ankle wouldn't let me (twisted). The same person rode mine again in the 4-stroke B class. The track was a full MX track with supercross style jumps on a 1.2 mile course. There were around fifteen quads in this class. Another Raptor, a couple warriors, and the rest 400exs.
My Raptor got a bad jump out of the gate in the first moto, maybe sixth, but was first, by a bike length, into the first turn and never looked back. He was rolling the jumps on the final lap because of the lead. Maybe ten seconds at the finish.
In the second Moto he got a good start and was easily out in front by the first turn. He was cruising until the last lap. He stalled it in a turn and let second get within a couple of bike lengths but easily muscled back to a good lead, maybe five seconds, by the end of the lap.
He was actually doubling very few jumps. (Because he didn't want to chance wrecking it). He is winning in the corners. Because of the suspension he is able to to get into and out much faster than the others.
This is two wins on two totally different tracks. The first a very short supercross track. The second a long MX style. Believe it or not he is winning on handling. But when he needs the horsepower it is there. The handling difference between stock and mine is startling for MX.
As for the other Raptor, stock but had PEP shocks, rear holeshots and Marshalls on the front. He finished last in the first moto and last in the second. In the first he missed a gear on the start and got into the first corner in the middle of the pack, got into another quad and knocked his valve stem on his tire off causing a flat. In the second, he would have finished mid pack but came up short on a double right before the finish and flipped it over. He did not have a good day.

I saw your father. I was hoping you were there. Rob was there but he was riding in the money class. They say he rides the track all the time during the week. He was hitting all the jumps big. Would be nice to see how his would have stacked up. His seems to have alot of horsepower but lacks acceleration. He finished behind a Banshee for second in money.
Blue Raptor: TCS Shocks, LoneStar A-Arms +3, DuraBlue axle +5, Fastline Brake Lines, Big Gun Pipe, GYTR Silencer, No-airlid, DG Bumper, Renthal Bar, 41t rear, 12t front, sparks ign. advance, front grooved car tires(19x6x10), Rear grooved turf tamers(18x9.5x8), Front and back Reinforced wheels

This week was called Echo Valley. It is located in Poole, Ky. It is on the Webster County - Henderson County border. Last week, we raced at Ft Campbell. It is located on the Tennessee - Kentucky border in Clarksville, TN.

KyRaptor,
I was hoping to hear how yours would stack up against Rob's 440. Back in the fall, when I first met you and later in the day raced the yellow and orange banshee, and beat it and the stock one in rolling drags, they tried to get Rob to stop riding the track and line up with me. He continued on and wouldn't race.
Did you see the girl with red hair who races her Banshee while you were at Poole? It was her Banshee that I beat back in the fall, but lately, her memory seems to be failing. A buddy at work said something to her about my stock Raptor beating hers in rolling start races and she denied that I beat it (she had a more experience racer ride against me) and now says it was a tie.
We raced several times, and every time from a rolling start, the banshee couldn't hang after I got into second gear and through 4th. It used to be yellow and orange, but she bought new plastic and it may be white now. Mods to it are coolheads, fmf pipes, reeds, boost bottle and not sure if any porting is done.
Well I'm glad to hear your bike is kicking butt. I would imagine it is a rocket now if it is even faster than when we raced at our last ride. I'd really like to see you do a straight drag on dirt with a good running Banshee, it would be very interesting.

I talked to Rob some while I was there. His quad is nice. He has a ton in it. They say it has a 480 stroker. (Whatever that is). The Banshee and he were the only two in money. They also were the only two in A. In the A race the Banshee did an endo into the face of a downhill triple throwing him off and the quad came over and smacked him hard. He was still on the ground when I left, with a dozen people around him. Hopefully he is alright. Your dad may know something of his condiditon.
I know the Banshee your speaking of. She parked by us at the race. Heard someone say that it was fast. They said it was identical to the one driven by a Carter of the Yamaha dealership.
Yours will likely take mine top end now. I am sure I have lost top end speed with my gearing. My fifth gear feels like third. It is real close to the rev limiter. Before it felt like overdrive. It seems to be asking for another gear when I am in fifth where before i felt like I should downshift back to fourth. But on a track I never get to it. Mine never is in first gear either. We are starting in second gear and cornering in second, third on sweepers, and still not bogging down coming out. It revs out so quick with all that power.

KyRaptor,
I did hear that Rob had just done some major work, about $2,500 in addition to the work he already had done on it when it was a 440.
I geared my quad down a bit too, so who knows, you may smoke me off the line and never see me again.
Yes, most everyone says that her Banshee is the fastest one around. The difference in the one that the Carter boy rides is that he has axis shocks, lonestar axle and Paul Turner pipes. When I raced her quad last fall, I had guys coming up to me asking what was wrong with the two Banshees that I was racing? I was like, "what do you mean?" and they said they thought something had to be wrong with them to see any other bike walk away from them like that. I can just imagine how yours would do against them.
I think that they practice during the week at Poole. It's not too far from my house, so I'm up to the trip. I still don't know where you work or your schedule, but maybe we can hit the track on a Friday when you're all better. I know my bike won't hang since I'm set up for woods, but it'd be fun to ride the track anyway.

I am still free the next couple of weeks. My ankle is okay to ride and some minor jumping but anything big it would surely hurt.(Like I will hit anything big anyway.) I stopped in West. Ky Atv after one of our rides up there and they said they could do it just give them a little notice.
I would like to see the difference also. I am thinking about upping my compression while I have the time off. I would like to get a dyno run before and after. It seems everything you do to these Raptors makes such a big gain, whether handling or engine, I am sure a higher compression piston would really wake it up.
