Think i'd get a second opinion on what that Yamaha mechanic said. Guess he's never seen bent valves, cracked heads, ruined crank shafts, etc. Just like what beyondupnorth said,I'd hate to see you drag that thing a mile back up the drive way. OPT

I didn't get a second opinion because he offered to replace any thing that got damaged free of charge.. Of course not the rod or bearing. But if it hurt the head he covered it and the crank. So I added STP aboue 20% and so far the knocking has stopped almost completely ! And I have put almo 20 hrs of hard labor in the thick under brush on it it with out any change. Yes I know it is just a matter of time but all I asked for was that a bit more time.. Now I have changed the oil and went with his advice on Lucas 20 w 60 ATV oil and it is better than before. No knocking and runs much cooler. The wet clutches lock much faster and the motor runs cooler. Any way you look at it it is going to need to be rebuilt! But I've learned that you can make it last a bit longer. Not promoting doing this but if you have nothing to lose then why not try? So for all the guys with plenty of $$$ go ahead and spend it but for the guys like me that are on a tight budget with a older bike that could be replaced for the cost of a rebuild. Why not try it.. I will keep you guys informed of anyy bad or good news..

Today I put a few more hours on the Lucas oil and I must say it just keeps getting better. Shifts alot smoother and locks up faster. I will be running Lucas from now on. I've seen alot of debate over running ATV oil or just motor oil. I can attest there is a big difference in the 2. When I got this quad the Guy stated he just changed the oil with 40wt motor oil and I drove it for a day or so and it started to knock and the clutches were slow to engage I changed the oil to a ATV type oil and could tell a big difference right away. Any way its been educational trying different things on this older bike. I will keep you guys in the loop of whats going on with it as I go.
Thanks again.
