dEPENDS on what you want, how you ride, who you ride with, and the terrain that you ride on.
The dirtbike is better if you like to go fast, do wheelies, all your friends have dirtbikes, etc. The downside to dirtbikes are they take more ability to ride than a 4 wheeler, you really have to watch out for ruts and logs that will throw you. On the plus side, they are cheaper to maintain(only 2 tires to buy! etc), it's hard to get them stuck, they ride smoother than most 4 wheelers.
The King Quad is better if you like to cruise trails, ride your girlfriend(or boyfriend), and you ride in deeper mud or snow.
I used to ride dirtbikes when I was a teenager but as I got older and wiser I prefer things with at least 3 wheels.
