Default Grizzly 660 gear shifter question

I just bought an 02 Yamaha Grizzly 660 and it seems to run great. I was going to do a oil change and check/change all the fluids. I bought a service manual for it off line and while looking through it I don't see anything about the oil in the gear shift housing. I pulled the boot off and there is oil in it but not sure how much is suppossed to be in it or if there is suppossed to be oil in it at all. The manual doesn't say anything about it. Can someone help me out? Is this something the previous owner did to make it easier?

Thanks for the help,
Crazyotto

That little bit of oil in the shifter does not really burn off or deteriorate in any way. I d just replace it with the same amount that you dain out . If your not sure amount the exact measurement.

Good topic I never even gave that oil change any thought before.
