Default 2007 yamaha 450yfz

Ive been working rejetting my carbs on my quad and am having issues. If I hammer the throttle the engine dies but if I slowly get into it it keeps running, does that mean im running to rich or to lean?

If you hammer to throttle while riding or just sitting at an idle? Does it do it when it's at running temp?

Just in idle and yes the engine was warm. And while riding it bogs down a little bit but doesn't die

Well, as for the problem during idle, it's not a problem i would even worry about. Your just dumping a ton of fuel to an engine running at a low RPM. It just can't burn it fast enough.

The slight bog is common with YFZ's. It's fixed a bit with a GYTR needle. There's also a "Zip tie" mod you can look into.

Are needles hard to change?

Well, that's relative to your experience. I had an issue once with a froze up screw but, other than that it wasn't hard for me. Toughest part was getting the carb out. The link below will give you an idea of what's involved.
