Yamaha Tri-Z 250 3-wheeler
#11
I raced the guy with the Tri-Z and blew it away. He also has a stock banshee. We raced and he pulled away from me while i was in third gear and he just kept pulling. Its not the rider.
As far as the machine, it is all stock, fresh rebuild, its broken in and is showing good compression. Its not the machine.
I am not trying to put down the triZ or say that the 400 is king, but flat out we raced, on dry pavement, both weighting close to the same, and I pulled really bad on the Tri.
The only reason I posted this is because of how fast the Tri-z felt when I rode it. I figured it would have a slight edge on me. But no such luck. You dont have to believe me if you dont want.

Don't get me wrong, the Z just wasn't up to the same standards as the ATC or the Tecate. Yamaha had the option of redesigning the whole deal and they took a fresh approach, thus, the Banshee. You are correct, it is still the leader of its class if you are looking for the fastest, best handling machine for wide open spaces or dunes. You have to dump money into a 250 to get it to run with a piped Banshee, forget about one with real mods such as porting and slightly increased compression.
As far as I am concerned, the Banshee is one of the best machines ever produced, and Yamaha did very well with it. If at some point they would have rethought some of its maintaince issues and given it better handles, it would be the best, hands down. But they didn't.
The Z looked pretty awesome, especially the black and red, but Honda had a huge head start that NOBODY but Kawasaki could take on.

wow, I dint know it was like that. I can eat 400's for breakfast on my R. not to talk ****, but when a 400 is topped out beside me I can strike it a pull a wheelie away from him. (on pavement of course)

Like I said man, just look at the numbers. You didn't beat a Z in a drag and if you did there was a variable somehwhere.Ridzhard your right the Z wasn't quite as fast as the R, but neither was as fast as the Tecate, but both the R and Z handled better, so the Z was a definite contender, I know guys who raced them.Your also right about the Shee, had Yam given it the basic updayes it should, it would be destroying the comp.

I thought The Z should be faster, like you said. and I had a typo a sec ago, it is a 250r not 350 I have and yes it will do 80, the only mod is a pipe, and a 14 tooth front spocket. thats the truth, raced bedide a new ford escort, it was around the mid 80's
anyhow, this is off the topic,
