I believe my carb is going bad?

fires right up when fully choked, wont run with no choke. While choked if i throttle it it kind of stalls (or relays before revving perhaps) but still runs. Then it backfires and all that fun stuff. Smokes pretty good when running, kind of a bluish tint to it (hoping its not head gasket?)

any inputs out there?

I would say your carb may just need a good cleaning, especially the jets, starting with the pilot jet. If it will only run with the choke on, that is an indication that it is starving for fuel or sucking too much air from somewhere. I doubt it's your head gasket.

thank ya much! will tear it down tonight. Will prolly do a rebuild kit anyway. i plan on mudding and creek riding alot so new gaskets and seals is never a bad present for the quad!
