Default Threads on crankshaft? Help?

A buddy of mine and I replaced the grease inside the clutch due to so much mud and dirt inside and cleaned it all up. Upon putting back together we thought we had it torqued right but apparently not, driving for about five minutes the nut came off and screwed up the ends of the thread on crankshaft.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I can't get the nut started and ordered a new nut. Here's a pic:

Find the thread pitch and a thread file might work starting the new threads on the end. If it doesn't help then having the correct metric die to remake the threads should.

Sorry but new to all this thread pitch and stuff. How do I find out what the thread pitch is? All I know is the nut that came off is 22mm.

Also need to figure out the right torque specs which I will just call the dealer to find out unless someone knows.

Simple thread pitch gauge is available with any metric/sae tap and die set or by itself. Most auto stores will have them. Shaft would either be 1.25,1.50 or 1.75 thread pitch usually. Same for the thread file, can get at most auto stores. Has several different thread pitches on all 4 sides.Plus here's an interesting video that may give you an idea on how to repair damaged threads. If in doubt on crank shaft threads, let someone repair it for you.

Thank you so much. I will check out tomorrow to see if I can find any stores. If not I have a local atv shop here in town I might just take it to them and see how much they would charge me. I feel I could do it, but I hate to ruin it and make it worst.

That might be the smart thing to do in this case.

Once repaired a couple drops of red Loctite before you torque it to spec's. Thread files work great.

Update -

Got the thread fixed, new nut and it goes on. Anyone know the proper torque specs for the 2007 Yamaha Wolverine 450? I called two yamaha dealers with two different answers

One says 72lb on primary and 72 on secondary
The other says 65 primary and 100 secondary ?

I put them on at 75 each just to test it and the machine seems to work fine. Only thing I noticed is if I rev engine up while in neutral, the belt doesn't seem to want to stop moving? So I go to shift into gear it'll kind of thud because "rpms" are techincally up. Perhaps I have grease on it? I'm going to check tomorrow.

But thanks for everything so far guys.

That's why I joined. The helpful people here make it all worth it. Extra fill is required to post so it will log on. Have a great evening.

Forgot to add does anyone have any tips on how to torque the secondary clutch? The primary I can ratchet strap down. But the secondary I have no idea how to keep it from spinning to check torque?
