Was riding today with a friend of mine that also has a Raptor and ran into some difficulty. He was climbing a hill got to the top and then stalled the quad.. Wouldn't restart so I went over to the bike and noticed he had blown the boots off the carbs inbetween the carbs and the head. I know I have seen this problem on here before but was wondering why this happened??? Any help would be appreciated.

I have heard of several doing it but mine hasn't yet. I think it is the light flywheel on the raptor that lets the motor kick back when it stalls on the compression stroke. Thats what I think anyways. Tell him to put some good automotive hose clamps on instead of the cheap yamaha clamps. That will help it a lot.

i had my carb boots pop off too, but it happens when the bike is on too much of an angle , and the carb backfires. the factory clamps have a spacer on the screw that tightens the clamps down. remove the spacer and reinstall clamps or replace with an automotive clamp. my bike hasent done it since. i think it has something to do with the floats not acting right when the bike is on an angle for too long. mine did it when i was riding wheelies out in the fields for long distances. hope i helped.

The problem is simply a lean idle circuit. Get some fatter pilot jets and the problem will go away.
