I installed a HMF slip-on and I had them put the Quiet Core in as well to cut down on the noise. The stock muffler with the baffle taken out was alot louder than this HMF by a long shot. I was kind of hoping that it would sound a little deeper. I guess this will make my neighbors happy and the "sound police" happy at the Oregon dunes. Oh well, I might sell it down the road and get one without the Quiet Core.

I just put my hmf slip-on on. And you can hear me coming a mile away. Nice deep throaty sound. The first time I fired it up after putting it on it would blow the carbs off. But after adjusting the idle up I havent had a problem since.

Hi Bart - Thanks for the post! I might have to try one of those without the quiet core. I can't make this piece from Dustins two stroke keep a packing in it for more than an hour and he isn't making it work either!
I ordered a set of the Keihin carbs from CPW that I hope to install this weekend!
Going to Winchester weekend of May 5th.

See Ya, EW

Bartman, how does the performance compare with the louder stock silences without the baffle? Thanks.

It would backfire causing the carbs to come out of the boots.

hi Bartman,

A couple of questions. Does HMF have a website and second, did you have to rejet the carb(s)?

Thanks,

To answer all the questions. First, the HMF slip-on only cost $149.00 + shipping.go to http://www.hmfengineering.com/catalo...or/raptor.html . I also bought the Dyno-Jet kit as well. So far it seems to run really smooth. Like I said, it is quite a bit quieter than the stock with the baffle out. It still sounds good, don't get me wrong, I just wish it was a little "tougher" sounding. I have a California model, I didn't seem to notice any "huge" difference. I weigh about 230 lbs and it has no problem lifting the front up in 3rd gear and probably 4th if I tried. I'm happy for now, eventually I would like to get the head pipe, it only costs $199.00 they say it adds about 2 hp mainly on top, which is where you need it when going to the dunes!!!
