YES, I HAVE THEM ON BACKORDER... MY DEALERSHIP RECIEVED AND GET THIS...ONLY ONE...GO FIGURE...HOWEVER I DID SOLVE THE CARB BLOWING OFF PROBLEM....MOVE THE CLAMPS ON THE INTAKE BOOTS AS CLOSE TO THE CARB AS POSSIBLE..THIS WILL PUT THE LOCATION OF THE CLAMPS FORCE DIRECTLY OVER THE ORING LIP ON THE BOOT....I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CARBS SINCE I MOVED THE LOCATION OF THE CLAMPS...HOPE THIS WORKS....I WILL THO WHEN THE OTHER BOOT COMES IN REPLACE BOTH OF THEM...IT'S PAID FOR BY YAMAHA...LASTLY, I DONT HAVE A PROJECTED DELIVERY DATE FOR MY BACKORDERED BOOT....I WILL KEEP YA POSTED...

Thanks for the info. I'm in the same boat. I went to dealer Mon night, they have the one for the right side, but the one I ripped is on the left (might be the other way around). Yamaha is paying for both, so I feel I have to let them, however this is really becoming nervracking. I think I'm going to try to call them.

You guys need to cure the source of the problem not treat the symptoms.....
The reason that the engine backfires thru the carbs is because the pilot circuit is lean to make the eco-wheenie's happy. The 400EX is jetted the same way on the pilot circuit, although not as bad (no carb removing backfires).
Richen the pilot circuit - backfires are not a normal condition for an engine that is properly carbureted.
