I have never had my carbs blow off and have had it since the last week of September.

When I got my Raptor, I had a carb that was mis-machined from the factory. It only took the dealer and a Yamaha Engineer 4 weeks to figuire it out.

Other than that no carb boot problems.

About 10 days ago I did have 2nd gear go out. Unfortunately, my warranty has been expired for some time. Anyway, it's at the dealer being pulled apart, as I'm posting this. From what I understand, Yamaha is using a stronger 2nd gear. I'm not positive on that, just what I've been told.

In addition, I did have an upper a-arm bend and axle bend, all early on. Both were covered by warranty, replaced with stock items and have had no problems with them since.

If you have or are going buy a Raptor, make sure to purchase the extended warranty.

Since the cases are split, I have my top end in route to CT for a high comp piston, cam and head porting. Should be up and running in 3 weeks and I can't freakin wait!

I would call Yamaha and see if they will still cover the 2nd gear problem! There is no way 2nd gear should be gone, this is something Yamaha should understand expecially since your quad is only 8-9months old, I would express my concerns over and over again and Yam should make you a happy customer! Dont give up and say ok, be persistant but polite!

The carbs blowing off is a minor problem related to fuel mixture and idle speed. It will probably happen to ya on a cold humid morning. Richen it up and idle it up and problem solved.

Second gear sux. There are several ideas on why it goes away. The one that makes sense to me is that when shifting from rev. to forward there is a moment when two counter rotating gears are engaged at the same time. So come to a complete stop and then shift to forward. You will know it is going bad cuz it starts popping out of second. then all of a sudden BOOM!!!! you soar over the bars. Mine blew and took out every rotating part of engine and tranny. Also ajust the reverse cable really sloppy.
