Raptor Top Speed run on GPS (pic)
#1
Well, I hooked up the E-trex to the Raptor today and took it for one run down the road. I was afraid of a cop seeing me so I only made one pass. This is also an honest reading, I didn't balloon up the tires or anything, just took it as it would be ready to go on the trails with my mods listed below and hit 82.7 MPH. I put the picture up and the link is below. I dont have a digital camera so I had to bring it in and put the GPS face down on my scanner so it may look a little weird because of that.

Hey, that's great!
How much difference could you tell when you went to the Sparks timing key? Was it as big of a difference as the pipe?
Also, do you actually trial ride with the 14 tooth? If so, you must really have built up the low end power a lot!

82.7.. I DID NOT REALIZE THESE BIKES WERE THAT FAST.. IF THAT IS SO, THEN IF AND WHEN THIS DREAM WOLVERINE WITH A 660 MOTOR IS MADE IT IS MINE!!!!!
JUST IMAGINE A 4X4 THAT WILL DO 65+ SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS TO ME.

Bash...I dont think the key added as much as the Pipe/Jetting did, but then again, I added on the bigger front sprocket at the same time I put on the key. So that offset most of the accelleration gain that I got from the key. But even with that I still noticed it revved faster. So I would guess the addition of the sparks key if you are keeping the same gearing would add some nice accelleration.

I worked up my nerve a little more today and made a few more runs in some different areas. This time I hit 83.2 once and I also kinda cheated with a little downhill slope and got 84.7 but I won't count that one. Either way its still damn fast for a 4 wheeler.

My jetting is done to Dynojet's specs for a slip on exhaust with 144 in the left and 146 in the right. From what I hear, dynojets #'s are not comparable to other brands so I dont know how much that helps.
Also, in reference to it not having alot of acceleration with the new gearing... It has more than it did stock with the mods I have done with the added top end. I put the mods on and it seemed to rev out too quick that is why I put the taller gearing in, and I didn't notice any midrange loss because I think it opened up more and I could rev each gear longer.

660R1, yep that's pretty fast. Just remember, though, I am the originator (as far as I know) of posting the GPS picture.
I will require royalties from this idea too.
Just kidding, of course.
I wish more people would do that; at least it's a lot more reliable than "my cousin Cletus followed me in his '69 chevy and clocked my Bandger at 95 MPH" posts. I think the 14 tooth helps a lot on the top speed.
