Ha! I figured I would get some guys to look with a topic that had the word "spanked"!
My question is for Raptor riders with the FMF Powerbomb headpipe.
I noticed last night that my headpipe glows red. The plug looks great though.
My reasoning is that the headpipe is glowing from thin headpipe material, but was wanting to know if anyone else noticed this. THanks.

Sorry for the devious tactics

with a pipe glowing it normally means it needs to be rejetted so check your spark plug

with any aftermarket exhaust it will glow if you let it sit and idle. My has done it and i have jetted it to the sky and back down below lean conditions to see if it made a difference and it didnt. i called FST and he said it is a common thing with aftermarket exhausts.

Thanks for the reply. The headpipe glows at idle. When revved, the headpipe continues to get a get "hotter" and the glow progresses into more of the pipe. Looks like it's lean as hell, but the plug shows a slightly rich condition. Very odd.
Would you mind checking your Big Gun headpipe to see if the glow goes away or stays with a little more throttle? THanks again.

When my Raptor was stock, it seemed like it took alot of choke to keep it running till it warmed up. After I modded it with the Big Gun and jetting I was using the same amount of choke till one night I noticed the pipe glowing. It really doesn't need hardly any choke now to keep it running till it's warmed up. I haven't noticed It getting hot without using the choke.

Although a lean condition can cause the engine to run hot and turn the headpipe glowing red, running too rich can do the same thing--what you may have is unspent fuel being burnt in the headpipe instead of the engine. I would jet down until the plug reads good, and then see if the headpipe glows.
