how much is everyone paying? i have to pay 294 for a year of full coverage, my brother in law pays 150 for his foreman, is it because of the cc's or is it more likely to get stolen because of what it is,
plus to get a lower rate i have to send in my motorcycle safety training certificate, not my atv one, does that make sense? on road cycle driving is alot different from off road atv riding, it seems like government and big companies like insurance companies do not really know much about atving, like i can ride my raptor on the trails, but not a new sportsman because it is too heavy, and i know for sure i could rip up a trail more than a sportsman

It seems they do it by CC, or at least state farm does.

The girl who wrote up my policy put 600cc instead of 660cc, so I called her to correct it and she said it didn't matter cause anything 600cc or above was all the same price. I pay $254 a year (ouch). My Banshee, a 350cc was only $150. They also do a calc on the value of the quad, so don't add tax or anything when you state value, that will help a little bit.

What are the listed amounts of coverage you are getting?

Check with your insurance company on multi-bike discounts. I used to insure two moped frames with no engines or wheels to get an across the board discount of 50% which saved big dollars on the first two quads I had insured.

I have Progressive insurance now with 4 quads (2001 Kodiak 4X4, 2001 400ex, 2000 400ex, and 2001 Raptor) and pay $568 a year.

$254.00 a year for a 2001 Yamaha Raptor is pretty cheap. I'm paying $425.00 a year, but I also have my machine covered for $8000.00 to cover all of the accessories that I have on the machine and also have the highest coverage.

Contact www.atv-line.com. They are a division of Markel insurance. I spoke with my insurance agent (through American Family)that I've been using for years and he told me to check out Ambest to check on different insurance companies reputation (http://www.ambest.com). He said that you never want to use a company with under a B- rating. Markel insurance has a 'A' rating and he told me that if they're considerably cheaper than him that he would recommend using them. Well, I'm paying like $77 for my 2001 Raptor and $91 for my 2001 Banshee with a $250 deductible. I'm 25 and live in Az. This coverage is for an entire year. It includes full replacement due to fire, flood, theft, etc. I opted not to get the uninsured driver insurance because it tripled the cost. The main reason I got the insurance was for theft because I dune overnight.

Do you have to register your bike in order for it to be insured?

Your bike does not have to be registered to be insured with Progressive. One thing everyone should note is that if you have an umbrella policy, the company carrying your umbrella policy will most likely require you to have maximum coverage on your quad including uninsured motorist, personal protection, etc.

If you are a home owner and have a decent amount of money in the bank/stocks/bonds, I highly recommend an umbrella policy. You can generally get about a 1 million dollar policy for $75-125 per year. This will cover you for any losses above what your regular policy pays. I am not as worried about protecting my $7,000 investment in the Raptor as much as I am worried about protecting my house, bank accounts, and future income!!! One quick accident on a blind corner with someone could change your life forever even if it isn't your fault and you didn't even get hurt.

P.S. if you do get in an accident, don't even mention that you have insurance. The quickest way to get sued is to let someone know you have insurance.
