I have a Banshee and did have a YZ125. The banshee is fast, crazy fast...and the YZ was just fast. Overall my banshee on the top-end was about 15 mph faster. It just depends on what kind of riding you are going to do as of what you should get. If you want to want to ride extremely fast you better get a banshee...if you want to ride MX and tight trails get a bike....And a YZ125 is 10x better than a CR125. Read the reviews on both machines!!!!!!!

If I had to do it again..I would go with the bike.
The banshee is great...and I still have mine, but I am more into jumping and tracks at this point.
I grew up riding bikes...But went with the quad because that's what all my friends had at the time. The bike will jump better and be more forgiving in the air. I am able to take a 125 and keep up if not roost all over any quad on the trails.
It's all a matter of what you like...they are both fast for sure. I bought a drz400 this summer...it's a dual sport...so not so forgiving on the track. (kinda heavy). But plenty fast to keep up with a banshee. And it will blow it away in top speed. I can pull 95-100 in stock form.
If your always in tight trails...I would say pick up a four stroke (quad or bike)...though the yz125 can go slow...it prefers to rip through the gears..like the banshee. Gives you one heck of a work out in the tight stuff.
I have raced a few 125's with my banshee...It's a nice close race , but the banshee will win on top speed.( my banshee is not stock)... A short race makes for good competition. And forget about it on the track...the 125 w/ a good rider will walk all over a banshee...or any quad for all that matters.

Hey man, I have done repeated drag races with dirt bikes. A friend of mine has a YZ 125, that has been bored out a little, wiseco piston, Rad valves.. some more stuff, and he barely beats my banshee. I can easily get the best of a CR125, but he will get there alot quicker than the banshee. I don't catch the CR until 5th gear, but from there on, the Banshee leaves it. The YZ does have better suspension, and yes, the CR125 has the worst engine of all(least HP and all) but.. and i'm not trying to start anything.. but, a Honda dirt bike is ALOT better than Yamaha. The guy that has the YZ has ridden it 7 times since he's had it, and it's been torn apart for 5 striaght months now. he can't keep seals in it for crap. Just my 2 cents!!
