Ok, this may sound dumb to some of you, but when you are jetting your banshee, do you do both carbs at the same time? Just curious, or do you do one then do the other? thanks a lot

Yes, you need to do both carbs with the same size jet...

BlackIce, you should jet both at the same time. In fact, anytime you do anything it should be the same for both cylinders. Do you know what size jets you have, what you need and how to change and check the jetting?

 

Dang...No i dont know what size are in there, i dont know what i need, and im not POSITIVE on how to check the jetting to make sure it is right. Suggestions Wyo? (BTW, since day one you have been a HUGE help to me. thanks a lot...just thought i would throw that in there)

why do you want to jet your banshee? didnt you just get it? it should be fine as long as your arent putting any mods on it, and if it came with mods im sure the x-owner did all the jetting.

i would leave it along, as long as it is running fine.

Well, from the pics on your site it looks like it is still stock so chances are that it doesn't need to be jetted. Once you start making mods you are going to have to play with the jetting. Right now though, if it runs well, accelerates well and revs out well don't worry too much. Take out your plugs and see if they are white/black/or tannish colored and that will give you a GENERAL indication of how it's running. They should look tan or chocolate brown colored and not real light or real black. Remember, check both plugs as there is no gurantee that both cylinders are running the same; they should be but who knows. The jets are located inside of each carburator and can be seen by removing the float bowls which is the bottom part of the carb. They are brass, 6mm hex head and have a hole in them with a plastic "thing" surrounding them. It's easy to tell once you open up the carb. I'm not suggesting that you do that now but you will have to sooner or later.

 

also, some advice. you said do i do them at the same time...

no jet one at a time. take it off, put the jets in, put it back one. take the other carb off, put jets in, put back on. your done. if you do it this way you will defeat the problem that sometimes occurs of mixing the slides up, which will make it run very poor.

dont run the quad with one carb rejeted and the other not, just do one at a time, know what i mean?
