I went on a huge mud ride last weekend and now I am having a bit of starter trouble. I push the button and it takes about 2 seconds (may not sound like a lot... but it is) for the starter to activate.

Any ideas what could cause this?

 

The reason the starter is not working immediatley is there is mud water in your starter button. sometimes it will work itself out but other times you have to manualy clean out the switch. hope i ve helped.

My starter acts in half a second and doesn't need no battery!!!

Yea but your starter falls off and I end upcarrying it around! LOL

 

If your problem is not with the starter button then check the switch in the clutch lever assembly. Sometimes I have to put the quad in neutral to get it started when riding in the rain or pull on the clutch level several times.

 

Check the battery terminals. The positive side may be loose....this happenned to me.
