you guys must all be retards .the post was all in fun over all these people
who complain about the raptor gearing. they run right out and change someting
that really doesnt need to be changed. you guy must have all rode 2 strokes.
my favorit one was 12 tooth sprocket and 22 inch tires!!!!

Sneeves.. I hate to tell you.. but if you go from 20 to 22 inch tires, then to keep the same gearing (well almost) you have to go from 13t to 12t front sprocket.
If you don't believe me.. then you need to go back and take 5th grade math again...
The math explained:
100 revs on the front sprocket several gearings:
First 13t/40t/20inch tires
13/40 = 3.08 gear ratio
100/ 3.08 = 32.47 rev on the rear sprocket for 100 revs on the front
20 inch tires have a circumference of 62.83 inches (d*pi)
so 32.47 revs at 62.83 inches would go a distance of 2040.09 inches
Second 13t/40t/22 inch tires
13/40 = 3.08 gear ratio
100/ 3.08 = 32.47 rev on the rear sprocket for 100 revs on the front
22 inch tires have a circumference of 69.11 inches (d*pi)
so 32.47 revs at 69.11 inches would go a distance of 2244.00 inches
Third 12t/40t/22 inch tires
12/40 = 3.33 gear ratio
100/ 3.33 = 30.00 revs on the rear sprocket for 100 revs on the front
22 inch tires have a circumference of 69.11 inches (d*pi)
so 30.00 revs at 69.11 inches would go a distance of 2073.30 inches
Whats this really mean:
that 13t/40t/20inch has the lowest gearing
12t/40t/22inch is close, within 2%
13t/40t/22inch is 10% higher than stock gearing.. and yes 10% matters.. more top end speed, less torque, less accelaration..
I might drop to an 11 front.. with 22 inch tires, just cause I want lower gearing but more ground clearance..
