I think it's because the Raptor is so captivating. It has killer looks and the marketing to go with it, 660cc's, superbe handling and it's just... WOW! I honestly think the motor has the most to do with it. I would have never considered getting a manual-clutch quad after years of riding Polaris untill this ATV came along. It just appeals to so many people.
And yes...it is all it's said to be, and more! It's a cool thing to be the "big boy" on the block!

I wanted to buy either a sport atv or the prairie 650,that is still in la la land i think, so i got a sport machine, and i dont like to go half way so i went with the biggest baddest one i could get, and dont bring up the ds 650, it is too wide to register now in wisconsin i think 48 inches is the limit, i have nothing against them i would love one,but my raptor fits me great also

Xplor, you sure weren't a yamaha fan the other day man.. Don't sell us Polaris guys out like that!! LOL, Just joking.. Xplor, now, do you see what all the talk was about?? I haven't gotten to ride on yet, but.. Gosh, I can't wait until I can!! I think I would crap my pants if someone showed up in town w/a 4 wheeler faster than mine.. Oh wait.. It wouldn't be.. but.. still, I think it would RULE to ride with a Raptor.. Well, i've said enough.. Later OH yeah?? do YOU REALLY LIKE IT??

I see you ordered a Viper also. I have a question for you. How are you going to be able to go from ridding a sled like that in the winter to ridding the Griz in the summer? ...Talk about a buzz-kill! You're sure to be Jones'n for a faster ride in no time. Winter won't come fast enough!

LoneStarBanshee, I have reached the next level in ATV Ownership awareness. I have wanted the Raptor since I first saw the spy photos in Dirtwheels magazine. When having just ridden Polaris for the past 5 years I swore by them...and still do for certain types of riding. I might have been in that little world known as: "My brand is the best, f*ck the rest!" It did't last long though.
After many, many months of hearing how great other sport quads handled I just could not wait any longer. You guys, for the most part, were right! The handling is not even in the same league, for certain types of riding I must add. This Raptor, or Craptor as my buddy Zorro calls it, is the best I have ever ridden, period. Handling, weight, fun factor... Sure, my Scrambler will kill it in a drag race, hill climb or for sand roosting but then again they all have there strong points. Shifting is fun and adds some spice to the riding. I just have to get used to the compression that slows down the quad when letting off the gas...someday.
As you can see in my signature I still stick by my two brands.

well btodd it's like this we don't have many trail's in vermont for quad's but we have a good trail system for sled's i buy a sled every two year's and this year they made one that looked awsome with a 700 in it so i jumped on it i hope i won't be disapointed. as far as my grizzly i have put a clutch kit on it jet kit and i was going to pipe it until every body keep's telling me that there coming out with a bigger and badder quad this year so now i'm on hold but i will wait until year two production of this quad just like i did with my grizzly so they have a chance to get the bug's out.well this has been a little long winded for me but your right every april when i make the switch and swap over it suck's for about a month i mainly use my quad for ski-doo trail maint. and hunting so i don't need a raptor.xplor where do you live in quebec i live near rock island.

Well since all the manufacturs' have had there head up there a** for so long building nothing but 4x4 or over weight pigs ,it's been a thing everybody's wanted and nobody has had. It's the sport quad era now just like the 90's was the 4x4 era. We were all complainng for years and finally Honda woke up w/ the 400ex and others are forced to follow or lose sales.

Grizzzzzz...I live in Blainville, 20 minutes north of Montreal. Did you get to try out the Viper? Or is it a pre-booking without a test? I sold my MXZ670 H.O. to get the Raptor and am planning on a new sled in September. I really love those new Redline Snowmobiles but will most likely end up with a Ski-Doo Renegade 800 twin. Can't complain!

no i didn't get to ride the viper they had a snowdeo where all the new sled's were there to try but the line's were longer than a country mile and i am impatient. so i ordered it blind.i had a formula deluxe 600 but i had a head on collision and totaled it the estimate to fix it was 8,000 us fund's 1,200 more than i paid for it.i live 1 hour from sherbrook quebec were almost neighbors compared to alot of people on this forum. how wild was it near your house when they had the summit talk's a month ago i see it on the new's and the border crossing's down here looked like a war zone.
