Raptor gas mileage
#1
Hey guys,
I will be getting my new raptor in the next couple of weeks. I was just wondering what kind of gas mileage to expect out of the stock machine. How long will a stock one run on a tank?

After riding nothing but two strokes ( i had a Scrambler 400 before), I am amazed at the gas mileage I get on the Raptor. I bought the Armadillo rear rack with the little one gallon gas can for long, all day exploring rides, but now I don't think I'll ever need it except to help my buddies out. On a recent ride, I used less than half a tank for 40 miles. It must be getting at least 25 miles per gallon, it took only about 1.6 gallons to fill up after 40 miles. I've quit worrying about it now, it has never used more than half a tank after riding most of the day.
Good luck,

I have a Dynojet kit and a slip on. I get anywhere from 85-95 per tank. Thats with heavy throttle use. Down in the dunes I got alot worse. The paddles and sand suck horsepower and gas. I`m not sure what I got in the sand. Definatly not 85-95.

I recently spent the weekend riding in the dunes. I arrived with a full tank and carried 3 1/2 gallons extra. Logged 7 hours and came home with fuel in the tank.

My buddy just traded his 01 Banshee after wrapping it around a tree and bending the frame and front left A-arm. He got it all fixed up and traded it for a 01 Raptor. I haven't gone out riding with him yet but were going on a day trip this coming Monday. Can't wait! Its the Black and White Raptor. I talked to him on the phone and I'm pretty sure he doesn't regreat trading in the Bansh. For our type riding areas, the four stroke engine suits him better and the reverse must be like a wet dream. I've seen him swwinging the rear end quite a few times in tight trails that lead him knowheres. He said that it was way, way better on gas than his Banshee was and no hassels of mixing gas.
I'll have pics on my site of the trip next week.

Of course we don't have speedometers, but we did the same ride last fall on our Polariseses and it was 72 miles. I ran out of gas on my DS about 3 miles short. 85 lb. Skyler just hit reserve on his Raptor. Even though the Raptor has a smaller tank than the DS, it goes farther. I'm sure weight had something to do with it. My greart Armadillo Out n Back rack with its' one gallon gas tank, brought me home with ease, and I figure gives me a 100 mile range.
The Raptor with an Armadillo Out n Back ought to be good for 120.
These racks are made to fit the small Coleman coolers, which have just remodeled. Getting the new Coleman into the Armadillo takes a sledge and a block of wood. Armadillo says they are re-tooling to fit the new model Coleman cooler. I'm fine with my very snug fitting set-up.

I went on Marienville's "Tour de Forest" a couple weeks ago. Rode 60 miles each day, & used 1.75 gallons the first day, and 2 the second. So I figure 100-120 miles. I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!
