I got my raptor sept. 1st of last year, #000364. I haven't had any problems. Well, carbs blew off once a couple of months ago when I let a friend ride it, but it has been fine since then. Shortly after I got it I richened the idle circuit with the mixture screws(one turn out from stock). I've had a curtis sparks pipe and pro-flow filter on for several months and the idle circuit seems rich enough.

Bought mine last sept. the s.n. 752. Its blk. and white all stock. No problems with the carbs or the tranny. where did u guys here about the new gear? It would be nice if yamaha would install them on the older ones. I beat on mine quite abit in the snow going from 1st to reverse when i was stuck. I heard reverse was the problem not sure though.

My Raptor is #000597, purchased in October. It is bone stock, has 50 hrs on it, and no problems to report. The Tranny works great and I use reverse all the time. Also, I have never had the carbs blow off. I'm from Winnipeg, Canada our elevation is about 800 ft above sea level and I've ridden the raptor in temps from -20C to 27C with no changes of any sort.

My dealer claims they have had no reports of tranny problems with any of the raptors they have sold. The dealer phoned Yamaha Canada and talked to a "Service Specialist" (what ever that is) and he said that Yamaha Canada has no knowledge of any gear update, no bulletins have been issued and they have not had a significant number of gear failures reported.

You guys are making me nervous, but my bike works great so I guess there isn't much to do but ride and hope for the best.

How many of the same tranny problems would be considered "Significant" though?

I just bought my Raptor, it is #20749. I've just got a couple rides on it. BTW, I only got a 90 day warranty from the dealer, it looks like you guys got a 6 month warranty. Whats up?? Well, anyway we'll see how the tranny holds up.

All raptors in the USA come with a 6 month yamaha warranty. Check your manual.

Got my Raptor in October 2000, California #139.
Me carb blew off once at Dumont Presidents weekend, never even saw the carb off, just thought the thing was done. Anyways Yamaha cleaned the engine out and reset the carb. Told me they changed a clamp and tightened everything down. Haven't had a problem since. Technician told me they have had this problem reported to Yamaha and a service class was given telling them of fix if they come in for service.
I know my 2nd gear is high but what is the problem with the gear...didn't catch what they changed for 20,000 models???

Got mine on October 2, 2000 #3557 and have had no problems with tranny or carbs.
