I orderd a 02 raptor! I wanted to know if the 01's came with a swingarm skid plate? Should i buy the one Yamaha offers? should I buy an aftermarket? Steel or Aliminum? or should I just not worry because they come with one?

I own a 01 Raptor and I'm very pleased with the GYTR Accessories. Great fit & finish compared to some of the other aftermarket products. Very expensive though!

You will want to replace the stock plate because it is cheap plastic.

Take Care,

Jason

The stock skid plates are plastic and need to be replaced ASAP. You can get either GYTR or PRM skids for the A-arms and engine, they're both very good, but if you are going to be hitting many rocks invest in the Pro-Tech stainless steel skid plate for the swing-arm. Dirt Wheels had an article on it a few months back and they compared it to the stock plastic and an aluminum one. The only one to surive the test was the Pro-Tech.

Pro-Tech sells a lot of them to the GNCC racers who can't stop and beat out the aluminum ones. The Pro-Tech will cost you about 60 - 75% more, mine cost $180, but it will outlast 3 or 4 aluminum ones.

I bought an extreme fabrication swingarm skid for my Raptor. It did'nt fit without modifications and different bolts, but what do you expect for $60? It's a nice looking skid that seems durable once installed.

I have the PRM skids all the way around on my Raptor and would recommend them to anyone looking for skids on any quad!
