<< I have 25" Bearclaws on mine, and I'm easily the first one on the other side of most mud we tackle. Of course I had to put a pipe, jet kit, and K&N filter on it to compensate for the power loss, but now you just can't beat it. >>

what size tires did you go? 25x8 and 25x10? Got any pics? I would love to see the setup.

Seems like the word is to go pipe, jet and filter when you go bigger tires... going to check into all that.

I have a 96 Wolverine and ride with 7 sp500's and have never had a problem going every where they go. But the first thing to do is get rid of the stock tires! I would not get a very aggresive tire. Also if your in deep water, watch that your seat doesn't go completely under, the air intake is under the front of the seat. It is just narrow enough that you don't run in the big bikes tracks. That is good and bad. Sometimes you have to run one side in the tracks and one side out. I really like the quad, it's simple, light and almost powerful enough to do almost everything. You could ask any of the guys I ride with, they would all be impressed with it's abilty. (Thats coming from sp500 owners!) In the last 3 years, I've been through everthing they have. I've came to the conclusion that we ride alot harder than most people in the forums, and the Wolverine has stood up to everything I have thrown at it.
P.S. One thing I think helps alot is don't sit and spin when 1 front tire is not spinning. All that does is burn up the clutches in the limited slip, and lets it slip 1 tire alot easier next time. I have rode mine for 4 years and it hardly ever will slip just one front tire. When your stuck, your stuck. And it's alot easier to get out than a big ole 500!

what else can you do to get more power out of the wolverine? Is there a big bore kit to pump it up to a 400. I like everything about the wolverine except not enough power and full time 4x4. There is always stuff to fix that though. Also, is it hard to install a manual clutch? If I got a wolve I would definatly do that.

4 stroke tech has a big bore kit to make it a 500 cc. they also are the ones who have a manual clutch for it. not sure what month but about a year ago dirt wheels had an article about the wolverine built for gncc racing. by the way, the guy won his class that year on the 500 cc wolv. If you want, i can look it up what month it was.

I think it was around 200 dollars or so, I just saw an add for it in dirt wheels in the july issue, I just looked it up and the articles i mentioned were in june 2000 they wrote about how they built it and where they got the stuff. the feb 2000 article had more info on the bike and was talking about the 2000 4x4 gncc champ. In my opinion, the wolv is a pretty good sport 4x4 even when stock. and there are unlimited mods to make it unbelievable. I have a 2000 and a 2001 wolv. and i wouldn't trade them for anything.

I have a wolverine , hey yankee cat this is 2bpimpin wolv off of highlifter. Yall dont want a big bore kit. What ya need is a big ear first gear. A guy i know has on in his 97 wolverine and he pulls 27x12x12 tri claws in real thick mud like there not even there.I'm puttin 26x12x12 tires on mine and it is stock. it'll handle em just fine. when ya hit the mud hole just keep the RPM's high and you'll be fine. They are so awesome for mudding because of them weighin to less then the bigger quads.

Hey, thanks for the advice. 1rst - need some pictures of that set-up! I bet is is cool. How do you put a lower first gear in? It is difficult? Where do you get the kit to do that? Anyone else out there do that???? Anyone else feel like a Wolv will turn 25" 489's stock??? I'm "this close" to bagging the Grizz auto for a Wolv...
