Well, I have to ask, are you seeling your engine? or how did you coma across an extra?

What it's worth is a tough question, because what would someone pay for it, is the real question. Just guessing, I'd probably say $1200 - $1800.

Yes it is my engine. I found a 426 that i plan to purchase and put in it if i can sell mine. I plan to make the quad yamaha should have made. I rode a yz426 powered 250r chassis bike and i was impressed. The engine swap i calculated will shave off around 50lbs off the raptors stock weight. Maybe some of you might think i am crazy but wouldnt it be nice to have a 350lb yz426 quad?

This may sound like blasphemy to a Yamaha owner, but I figured the "tecate" in your username probably means you've owned more than just Yamahas. Anyway, what about waiting for a Honda CRF450R motor? The numbers on that thing sound pretty impressive. Honda claims it weighs only 65lbs and puts out 55bhp and 36lb/ft of torque. Also, I know that Yamaha used to make you buy the whole YZF426 just to get the motor. Is that still the case or did you find one another way to get one?

I found a used engine that i plan to buy. The bike was like only hours old and was totalled. The only thing realy salvageble is the engine. I might just say the heck with it and go with a cannondale but the hard part is now that yamaha changed the trans in the 2002 you cant get jack for a used 2001 Raptor. Even though i have exstensive mods including swingarm shocks.. so on and so forth i cant get over 5500 for mine and thats pretty pethetic considering the fact i have over 11g in the bike. So i figure i am stuck with it and will make myself a 400 class racer that will bout 350lbs. Thats my only complaint with the Raptor is on a tight track(MX) this thing wears you out. It gets to hard to flick around the corners. oh one other thing. The raptors gearing sucks. to get it geared right for the MX tracks i had to gear it 12/46 so i have almost no clearance under the sprocket. But as far as play riding goes i wouldnt have anything else.

I sure would like to have a second motor, even if it is w/ 2001 gearing....

I'd build the hell out of it and keep my stock.. well stock..

I'd love to make an 70+ hp raptor..

I wonder if the boss will accept another "I need another raise cause I need more toys" speech..

Hmm.. let me know when you come up with a price..

Let me know what you will take for it. I may be able to find someone or a use for it myself. Not sure what you can get for it, but let me know when you get a ballpark idea.

YZ426...Yaahhooo!! As far as using a raptor for MX. i don't know about that. i am in the same boat as you. lonestar a-arms-axle, Elka shocks, jets and gears. result: Cracked frame and sub frame. Please do not put that 426 in that crap frame... buy a used Lonestar frame and you will own the track. I love my raptor. but it's no MX machine. Throwing money at it will not solve your problem. i like to believe i have one of the sickest Raptors around. i gave it a shot. i had my hopes. whatever.
How much you want for the 426? i'll turn it into a jumper. if corners are your problem? try 8" holeshots MX's. i run them on douglas 190's with beadlock and rings. Problem solved. tap the rear break... and the a$$ is ready for you to place it.

Anyone want to buy a tricked out Raptor with a cracked Frame?

I didn't think so.
