Hey RedReconRider...Are the 2002 Raptors available and in the dealers already? I thought they wouldn't be there until at least August. I have almost considered selling my '01 and getting an '02. Let me know what you think about the gearing change if you get to test one out!

Sorry, typo. But I am seriously looking into buying one. I meant a 2001 and I'm thinking of waiting for the 2002. I talked to the dealer yesterday and he said they were fixing the gap between 1st and 2nd.

Why buy another Raptor when you can get a Banshee and with the money you have left over from not buying the Raptor Trick the SHEE out to dust the big bore 4 strokes.
My 2 cents

I have done some searching and for the money you would lose going to a 2002 you would be best off to have your 01 uprgraded to the 02 gearing. i did some checking with my dealer and the parts shouldnt cost much over $300. So add about $500 for labor and you would have a better bike and not lose as much $$. The Yamaha rep said they are lowering the reverse gear ratio also. That would be nice! They said i can get the new gears this fall some time. You say your Raptor is messing up on yah? What is it doing?
