I'm ready to buy "Stage one" mods for my raptor. I would like the opinions of others who have done these mods. By stage one I mean..pipe, jets, filter. I have somewhat narrowed it down to 2 setups. The Sparks racing, and the CT Racing. Anyone have either of these, and could provide some feedback..good or bad! Also should I go with a jet kit, or just get larger jets for carb until it's tuned right? What about the filter? This is another thing that has me puzzled. I would think the K&N would be the best setup, but do they only currently make a stock replacement for the raptor? The aftermarket air boxes seem kind of overpriced, are they really worth it? I'm also thinking about the timing key from Sparks..anyone have that?

I would really just like to be able to get the absolute most power out of bolt on's. These seem like the only available options for the raptor right now. Are there any other tricks to find power? I have all ready cut holes in the air box lid, and removed the snorkel flaps, pulled the stock spark arrestor, added a 12 tooth front sprocket, and jetted the bike up to some 145-150 jets.

The use my bike will see is jumps, trails, drag races, and anything else I come across. I really don't want to focus on building it for one area. It would be nice to be able to run a little faster in the drags, but keep it able to run the trails.

Thanks,
Dan

I just ordered a UNI two stage filter for my Raptor, I stay from K&N because it is generally thought that they don't filter dust as well as others (mechanics tell you this also).

Did you see any kind of improvement in power when you drilled the air box?

Thanks,

You'll like the UNI filter I just got mine from Rocky Mountain ATV. It has a rubber sealing ring that fits inside the stock filter cage. Much better seal than stock. As for mods I would go with a slip-on pipe, dynojet kit, and UNI Twin-air or proflow setup. I have an FMF 4-2 slip-on, FST airbox mod, and 160/162 mains, but it's running rich. Thats why I say go with the dynojet kit. Less trial and error. People have been doing good with it. If it was out when I did mine I would have went that route. Good Luck

I'm also considering the Sparks and CT setups. I'm sure I've seen some guys with these setups on this site. Please help. Is it worth the expense? How much difference does it make? The more details the better.

Do these systems require the removal of the lid? Is this a problem? I ride in pretty dusty conditions and even though I avoid water if I can, I've still noticed some water getting splashed up on the lid. Would this be a problem if the lid is in fact removed with these setups?

All info would be appreciated?

Thanks,

No one has either of these setups?....Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until one of the mags does a pipe shoot-out.
