And the bolts are a b!tch to get off the stockers! The top nut/bolt came loose without a ridiculous amount of effort but I gave up on the bottoms tonight, didn't want to strip 'em. Anybody know what those babys need to be torqued to? I'm gonna use the impact wrench tomorrow so I can break them loose without stripping the nut but am curious what I need to torque them back to cuz man are they tight! I'm so excited to get the Elkas installed! Man will I be bummin if I roll the shoulders on the nut and cant even get the stockers off! Gotta thank Marty at The Quad Shop, he was very professional and got my shocks to me exactly when he said he would and for a reasonable price. Anybody thinking about getting Elkas should check with him......now if I can only get the stockers off so I can install these sweet Elkas!

You may have to use some penetrating oil on them.
I just looked it up in the service manual for you and it says:
32 FT lbs. for the Front upper and lower
23 FT lbs. for the rear upper and lower
I ordered Elka's from Marty at the quad shop also.
He said they'll be here next Friday. I can't wait I got the front
triple rates with SSD and comp only adj.
I also got the rear Elka with SSD.
SO what do they look like. As good as the pictures?
Let me know how they work. Later

Thanks for the info Joey9! I'll definitely let you know how they work out. My fronts are the fully adjustable triple rates. I'll definitely be sure and let you know how they work out. I'll be riding them this weekend as long as I can get the stockers off!

They are sweet. have had them for a few months now and i would never consider going back.I must say i'm a little jealous about your purchase of the rear. in fact thats my only complaint. the fronts work so well it puts the rear to shame. Elkas ALL around is the way to go. might i also reccomend a Denton steering stabilizer. installs in 5 min and your arms will thank you. i'm afraid the delay of my rear Elka may have cost me more money in the long run. i've noticed stress cracks in the welds by the foot pegs. getting air has it price.

I was bottoming out the rear as much as the front. That's why I went with the rear too. I was thinking of getting the stock one revalved, but I didn't want to be without my quad for that long. I also just got the Denton damper on Tuesday. I'll be going out tonight or tomorrow for the first test ride with the dynojet kit and damper installed. My shocks are coming next Friday.

Went riding today for an hour or so and man are the Elkas sweet! I wasn't as aggressive as I usually am because I was at the track by myself but I have to say even riding at about 2/3rds my normal pace I really noticed a difference. I still need to dial them in but man am I glad I got them!

Just tighten them as good as you can. They will not strip and they won't come loose like a Durablu axle nut.
