i bought my banshee with no title a year ago. seller said it was a 95 and the plastic colors matched but there was brand new maire purple plastics on it so he could have said it was a 95 and it would loook like one. anyways i was never curious of it till now, i have no idea why. so i got the v.i.n. #'s for the years off a website. went to look tonight and they were ground off the frame. all i can see is some of the #s. well it isnt a 95. could be a 94 97 or 98 because it begins with JY. i am almost sure the numbers match for 94, plus it would have the yellow stock tank cover which it does have.

now for the engine. can you tell me what the numbers on the case mean?

thanks for your help.

the ser# on your atv (or any atv, motorcyle, snowmobile, or auto) will tell you the year, Count across to the 10th digit, From 1981 to 2000 were letters. 1981 B, 1982 C, 1983 D, and so on to 1987 H, (they skipped I) 1988 J, 1989 K, 1990 L, 1991 M, 1992 N, (skip O) 1993 P,and so on to 2000 Y, at 2001 thet go to numbers 2001 1, 2002 2, and should continue on from there
So if it is a 1995 the 10th digit should be S.
Read the VIN and you will know.

I don't know about the caes (engine #s) if the case # is 17 digits long it may tell you the year, I know polaris #s on the engine don't tell the year that way, I have a suzuki motorcyle & atv and the #s don't look like they tell any thing about the year either.

H300F did you look at the private message I sent you?
