Your Piston rings or oil righ is fried. That is why you had no oil and it was smoking.
The plug wll not melt. Just get the correct deep well socket spray w/ WD-40 and let it sit for 5 min adn try to take it out. Be sure to turn the wrench the right way. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] Trust me. I am guessing there is some major oil build up around the plug.
