I recently got an '00 Wolverine. Great bike, but I noticed when I get into upper 3rd, it begins to whistle. It will do this through 4th and 5th, but once i get past 50mph, it stops. I know its not just the wind catching something--sounds like a drivetrain noise to me. Anybody out there know anything about this?
Happy trails all, Shawn

Hi, I bought a 99 wolverine in Jan. I also had the same noise that you are describing. It will go away with time, I can bearly hear mine now. How do you like the pull start option? I wish mine had it.

I BELIEVE I know what your referring to, this isn't a problem just the nature of the BEAST.

The pull start is real nice. Just nurse it past TDC (top dead center) or a some call it, the compression stroke and it pulls pretty easy. I was looking at a Warrior shop manual the other day, and to me, it looked as if a pull starter just bolts on. It showed the plastic cover on left case removed and it looked like there was a metal flange of sorts that the pull start would attach to. See if your dealer knows if it will bolt up.

I have a 95 Woverine, with lots of mods. now.
I believe your noise is coming from the front differential. I had the same noise.
Its just the LSD (Limited Slip Differentail)
Its normal, but if it gets anoying you can do what I did. Go to a Dodge dealership, and get some LSD friction modifier. Add about a table spoon to your front diff. It should quiet down in a couple of rides.

Oops, I made a mistake. The pull start wouldn't just bolt on like I implied. On the Warrior, there is a plastic cover onthe left side of the motor. Remove that cover and a pull start should just bolt on. But on the Wolverine (non-pull start)its not the same setup, so you couldn't just bolt one on--but still, i'm sure that there is a way to attach one.

I had heard of people putting friction modifiers in the front ends of Hondas, so I think you may be right about it being the LSD.
Thanks for the help, Shawn
