speed questions

ok my son has a blaster fmf pipe k&n air filter mossberger reeds
it flat hauls in my opion but naturally in the quest of speed i have some questions i realize that a larger rear sprocket will take off faster but will have less top in but that it would be cheaper to change the front sprocket his bike has stock tires whatever size that is and stock sprockets i think that is 13 teeth in the front correct? what would 14 do? would it decrease bttom end and raise top end? and one last question my son rides with a souped up 300 ex honda and has been toasting him but the 300 got some new tires size 22 realtors or something and he said that it is almost dead even now? how does tire size effect the perforance of a blaster larger and smaller tire?
thanks butch

One reason the 300EX slowed is probably the weight and tread pattern of the Realtors, they are pretty aggressive tires. The Blaster is a nice little machine. Mine has the FMF pipe with K&N filter and will definitely beat a stock 300EX. I wouldnt mess with the gearing on the Blaster it's pretty well spot on for most conditions. Going up on the countershaft sprocket will increase top speed at the cost of low end. Taller tires will do the same. I would look into some turf tamers or another similar tire in the 20-22" sizes. If you're looking for more ideas as to make your blaster quicker you may consider looking at www.blastercentral.com Last time I looked they had alot of neat ideas and mods for blasters. thanks for the tip i have tried to get into blaster central but i think that you must need to be a member of the cia to get in membership is closed and they are taking no new members unless you know some secredt handshake or password to get in my personal; email address is cooneyjr@yahoo.com just in case it is secret, the 300 ex with the tires seemed to performed better i think they are bigger thatn than the ones he had but i am not sure

If you put a 14 tooth sproket on the front you would loose bottem end and incress top.
You could decrees the rear, spoket 1 tooth up on the front sproket is equal to about 3 teeth down on the rear sproket.
But no matter what you ether sacrifice top end for low end or low end for top end!
But then again I dont know if you sacrifice anything if you go with a Big Bore kit.
