ok i have no idea what i'm doing wrong, i'm riding in the sand dunes and i'm getting my *** kicked, but i get on my buddies bike that was wipping my *** and my bike beats me. I have a raptor, jetted, head pipe and tip, open air box with white brothers air filter setup. What do i need to do to start regaining the title of the raptor

It happens all the time...you bought a bike that has the potential to blow away the competition. Your head sees that as time to relax...why? because the bike is supposed to do the rest. Get your head into the game. Ride and ride more. Get aggressive if you can. The rest will come naturally.
Don't count on your mods to do it for you.

Ride you ATV as much as you can and not just Drags practice; Trails, dunes, MX track, Drags, and most importantly just have fun do doughnuts wheelies (that can help in alot of areas)!
Don't practice like "Ok I'm gonna do this then that" just ride casuely then you will start ride aggressive.
Practice makes pefect!
Also how long have you been riding?

Repeat after me:
It's all in the shift...
It's all in the shift...

The longer your shift takes, the more time you spend NOT accelerating! You also have to know where in the RPM range your atv makes power, and learn to shift accordingly.
Two friends of mine were drag racing their banshees down a gravel road, and the one friend kept loosing to the other by 8-10 lengths by the time they hit sixth gear. Now, this was the banshee that used to be mine, and I knew it was faster than that. So, I got pissed, told him to learn how to ride, and then raced it myself. Guess what. I won buy 2-3 lengths every time.
Just spend time (by yourself so others don't intimidate you) and practice untill you find out what works for you.
