I own a 93 Kodiac and have had excellent luck with it. I haven't been the easiest rider, yet it always brings me home. I have over size 26x12x12 (all around) tires right now and they a stealing a little bit of my speed though. I can get 70km/hr out of it , which is to to bad for me because I do alot of mud and trail riding. As far as repair all that I've replace are the front bearings and one universal joint in the drive shaft (standard wear and tear). Our winters in New Brunswick get down to 30 degrees C and the bike starts on the first try.
If its in as good of shape as you say then I would not be afraid of purchasing the 4 wheeler.

I had a 95 Kodiak and it was a good bike. The stock tires were laim and it needed some rear brakes which was a poor design. Other than that, it was a nice bike. Mine had 1700 miles, green w/ gold wheels and a 2000 warn winch, looked and ran good. I pd. $2300.00 for it and sold it for $3000.00. Good luck.
