I have heard that the SPORTSMAN 500 could outpull a 600 Grizzly. Is this because of the traction of awd or does the 500 have more power? If traction is the case would Vampires give the Grizzly a better chance?

If you attach the two in a tug of war, they'll just sit there. Neither quad's power is just off idle like that. They need to be moving, the Grizzly's powerband is at mid range. Its pointless to do tug of wars with quads, it proves nothing. But put them side by side having to pull something like a 2 ton truck and the Grizzly wins everytime. Or test them at climbing hills, no contest there either. Full 4wd is probably nice, but the Grizzly's 4wd suits me fine.

AZROB,my friend,I'd like to know where your information comes from. You say the Grizz will out pull and out hill climb the Sportsman?I suppose it will out mud it as well?Im not here to say that the Sportsman will out climb or out pull the Grizz either, because I've not seen that either.I will tell you this though,I once had a co-worker friend of mine go mudding with me once on his 98 Grizz,[I own 99 500cc Sportsman]the poor fellow was SO embarresed from being pulled out of the SAME places the Sportsman had just went through,That he went out and bought a new Sportsman and give the Grizz to his beloved wife.[Im not sure he liked his wife so much]We did climb all the same hills to.So saying it is no contest comparing the Grizz's climbing and pulling power is just a bunch of Hoggwash, and Im sure you know that to.Im glad you like the Grizz, but lets keep the truth in perspective.I've been riding TOOOO long with TOOOO many Sportsman's and Grizz's,I know the truth.GOOD DAY-----BILL

Just a qick note, the winner of the sled pull, at the Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree.
Elks Lodge Rodeo, was a Grizzly.
They had an actual sled, just like the big boys use, only a smaller scale.
My modified Wolverine didn`t do so well.
But I did win the mudbog...
