I have a Raptor with a Big Gun Race exhaust with 165/170 main jets. I recently purchased but have not received a Big Gun Quiet silencer and Spark Arrestor. I bought the Raptor used so all of this stuff was done by the previous owner. Big Gun recommends 150/155 main jet and 27.5 pilot jet for the "quiet" silencer w/spark arrestor. Where can I buy these jets? I don't know what to look for unless it says "Raptor Jet Kit". Are all jets the same? Is a 150 jet the same for a Suzuki GSXR 750 as it is for a Raptor? I've never installed a jet kit before but I'm trying to learn!

Thanks,
Mitch

go to your local yam dealer and tell them you need a main jet for a raptor they will know the difference between a 2 stroke jet and a 4 stroke jet. if they look puzzled they can get the part numbers of the raptor micro-fish. the main jets cost $2.38 ea. now you need to take your front fender off gas tank and losen up the boots to the carb and pull them off take the bottom bowl off and there you'll see all the jets.

.....sounds easy enough! I ordered a shop manual for the Yamaha dealer but it won't be here for a couple of weeks.

My Yamaha dealer must suck! I've been there twice in the past month. The first time they told me there was NO difference between an 01 and an 02 Raptor. I've heard many others mention several differences, mainly transmission. The second time I went, I asked for jets for my Raptor. The guy asked me if I could bring one in so he could look at it. He wasn't sure what jet I needed and for some reason didn't have the resources. He was one of those that acted like I was putting him out by asking for things! I'll find another Yamaha dealer!

Thanks for the info,
Mitch

yamaha dealers are in general sub-standard, the jets for your raptor are standard mikuni jets, my local dealer wanted $7 each for them and gave me the wrong ones the first time. since then I just purchased a dynojet kit which I like since I can rejet for different conditions (high desert and mountains out here). they also sell individual jets at $4.50 each, www.dynojet.com

There is difference in the 2 stroke and 4 stroke jets for a Mukuni. There is also 3 different types if I am not mistaken. The small round one is the one you want. They also have a small hex-shaped one and a large round one with different threads.

well i just looked in my service man. and it has no part # for jets just MJ the stock jets are 140-145. and yeah i had the yam dealer give me the wrong jets but before i left i talked to a guy in service that had jetted one and showed him the jet and he told me it was wrong. so i went back to part with him and got the right one. if the kids there don't look up the jet on the computer chances are it will be wrong. your best bet is to take your jet in to match it up. its the jet that has a small tube like brass pipe on top of it.

while your rejetting get a in-line fuel filter and put it on while gas tank is off for 2 buck its a good investment.
