It's on the left side of the engine under the pull rope housing.
It has hoses from the radiator connected to it.

KOD,
So this piece of tubing comes out of the water pump housing weep hole and prevents dirt and crap from entering the housing. I have not had any water pump problems with my 00 Kodiak yet, but I'm thinking of throwing the pump on my milling machine and retrofitting a hose to it. What I could not tell from your picture was how long the hose was, where it ended up, and if it was open ended.

Good idea.

It is about 6" long, open-ended, and sits down on top of the frame skidplate. It is about the size of the clear tubing used for fish aquarium air pumps.

Good Luck!

NotoRaptor is correct. Also, the tube is pressurized so water cannot enter it. You can extend it up or plug it off if you are afraid water might enter but I did a test first thing when I got mine and water cannot enter the tube. I extended the tube and put it in a tub of water for the test and it worked perfect.

Good luck.

Thanks for the pictures Kiss of Death. I ordered a new pump assembly this week for my Kodiak and my local dealer wasn't familiar with any water pump problems although he did admit that they had replaced a couple of them. I decided to bite the bullet and go ahead and pay for the new pump without raising a fuss but I'm definitely sending it back if I don't get the revised version with the tube as shown in your pics.

My dealer quoted me $125 for the unit. Labor would be an extra $50 or so.
