Bombardier DS650 vs. Banshee
#11
The Alba Banshee they tested in DW had 62 horses and they just said the warrior made a little over 30. They weren't stock Alba's, the Banshee was a 370 and the Warrior was a 400 but really 383 I think. But that was a totally different article than drag racing the three Banshee, 400EX, and DS650.

Mr AM
You happen to notice, I said "Stock H.P."
for the Banshee, that listing is also
in the Article.
I was trying to point out some flaws in
D.W. reporting, as I have done before, their attitude toward Yamaha's in the Past
has been of a somewhat suspicious nature.
Yamaha had to create a near perfect ride(My
namesake) to win one of their shootouts.

I'll shall wait until ATV-Sport runs a Test,
I do not think a DS650 will "Cream" a Banshee, out run it Yes, but not a Total
"Creaming" and I think a Banshee with a set
of pipes and a K&N filter kit(about $350-400)
will turn those tables.
No a 400EX with the same mods won't beat a
Banshee, and sorry neither will a Polaris
Sport(no disrespect intended toward those fine Quads).
I know well the Bike the DS650's motor came
from, My YZ400F will beat that one, so
remember!
Team Blue still has one up there Sleeve

In that article, I think they only had the Bombardier DS650 for a limited time at Pismo Beach, just like with the 400EX when it came out. So since the Bombardier guys were there, maybe they wouldn't let them screw around with their pre-production model. The next issue of 4 Wheel ATV Action will have the DS650 vs. Banshee vs. 400EX vs. 250R, off the sand! We will find out then who makes the fastest production quad on the market!

You banshee owners need to stop crying because somebody came out with a supperior quad (ds650).The banshee is a 13 year old design other than a a-arm change. Don't you think yamaha could have changed some things in 12 years ? Now you have a quad that will just tear apart a banshee and you guys are complaining about it isn't that what we want beter technology or the same old junk every year with new stickers. All of the other motorcycle lines get improved every year but not the performance quad market so lets applaud bombardier for taking the steps to trying to improve are choices and coming up with new technology.

It's great that there is a new sport quad on the market, however if DW is going to test it against others bikes then they need to test them on the same terms. 4 Strokes don't spin much since they have no powerband and everyone know that Banshees have one hell of a powerband and that they spin on any kind of turf and tire. It is really questionable on why they would test them in the sand without paddles and especially in the Banshees case with it's poor traction ability hence the powerbands power. I feel like a broken record trying to explain this all the time when people keep saying that the DS is the new king and the Banshee should move over. Well I think I'll move over when I have a DS stuck on my grab bar and I can't shake it and only then will I admit that the DS is the supperior quad. One more thing. Doesn't it bother anyone how fugly and high centered this thing is and how much it resembles a SEA-DOO.

I apologize, I miss took what you said about the holeshots on all 3. And I do agree in sand conditions the holeshots are a bad tire.
on the banshee. And or actually on any quad.
I would of like to see all 3 machines on paddles. Ds650 looks impressive. But can it hold up in the real world out in the dunes.
That's where the true machine will prevail.

A Banshee being outdated...Has anyone really driven a banshee...I don't care about HP readings or none of that crap..I'm not trying to cause any trouble, but I don't think there are any of you out there that totally use all the engine that the banshee provides...You would be on the line next to "goodman" if that were the case. especially with all the hop ups that most of you "claim" to have.. The banshee is in a league of it's own...As far as getting stomped by the new machine on the block....Well....A hooked banshee will pull 100 mph or more...you will never ...ever see that from a warrior, blaster or the like. with the geometry, size and weight of a quad...any speeds greater than that in the dirt would be asking for trouble anyway. I would have to ride one...But the moral of this story is that the DS650 cannot possibly be that much of an arm-ripper..it's a pretty tall quad to boot
