Hello all. I am wondering if a banshee would be a good choice. I will probably have around 3500 to play with. I'm thinking a 250r machine, or a banshee. Now I can get a newer banshee than a 250r for that, of course. One thing that bothers me is the two of everything. I will be riding in sand, but also on trails and the likes. Will the banshee handle the trails pretty good?

Thanks,

jason

I do most of my riding on trails, fields, and a little track I made. I've never really ridden any other sport quad on trails before so I don't know how to compare it to anything other than Utility's I've ridden on trails. For me I have no problem on trails as long as it's not too rocky. I don't like rocks for 2 reasons, slash tires and rougher than a corn cob. I personally prefer the fields and track I ride on compared to trails, but only because they're smoother and I can go a lot faster on them. Two of everything is a lot when you think about it, but when you get one and ride it you won't think that anymore when you feel the power and instantaneous speed you can reach in a little more than a heartbeat. I've ridden 250R ATC's and although they're light front end makes it easier to pop and ride wheelies, they are in no way comparable to the power of a BANSHEE.

I've raced a couple Banshee's before & I lost but it was close. The ATC 250R on the otherhand smoked us both!!! Those things go.
The sand is the perfect place for a Banshee, the trails are OK. It's kind of a pain to keep it up in the usuable RPM's all the time. My friend has a top end exhaust on his which makes it even more noticable. Another thing about Banshee's on the trail is no reverse which is kind of a pain. I've ridden both sand & trails. Not only are trails more challenging I think they are more fun too. But if you are gonna play in the sand than the Banshee is a good choice.

I'm not sure what kind of Banshee you were racing, but I've owned a ATC250r (W/300 kit) for 5 years and it's very quick, but it ain't no Banshee, no way, no how. Not even close!

Gentlemen, let's not stray off the subject of the topic, which was the relative merits of the 250R and the Banshee.

Sorry Moderator,

If I were riding mostly in the dunes, choice is easy, a Banshee. If I were riding mostly trails, I'd choose 250r. I would say the 250r is a more 'all-around', 'do-anything' quad. The Banshee does pretty well on trails, but it's powerband lends itself more to wide-open spaces.
