I'm CHEAP. This is what I want to do. Open up the airbox (FREE), remove the spark arrestor (FREE) and rejet (CHEAP). Any suggestions on jetting for these budjet minded (CHEAP *SS) mods? Should I just change mains or would I have to change pilots?

Also, is there any benefit to removing the plug on the bottom of the
silencer?

You will lose power by removing the the spark arrestor. Read earlier post. I has been proven that all it does is make more noise and gives the person a sense of being faster. Simply opening up the air box by itself will create problems too.

just ride with your 400ex buddies and you wont feel the need for mods....just kidding lol you cant run without the airbox lid without putting on a prodesign proflow kit that runs $89.99, so that is about 100% over your budget.

I don't want to run without the lid, just want to remove the obstructions in the snorkle.

ok if your gonna go cheap then do this!! cut the flaps out of the snorkle and maybee a few small 1/8 inch holes in lid. then rejet take the 145 main out and put it in the 140 carb then go buy a 150 main $2.50 and put it in where the 145 was. no need for the pilot jets to be changed. i don't think you gonna get any hp out of the stock silencer by taking the spark arrestor out to many baffles inside. next buy a 12 tooth front sprocket $13.00 bucks.

Now you are on to something! I already have the sprocket I guess I can save up the $$ for the 150 jet.
