Jetting Kodiak

Try 128 main, clip on 4th notch, two turns out on the idle adj. and 12 disk in the Supertrapp. You should see a very noticable difference in torque and around 4mph more on top end. Do me a favor and let me know if the diagram that comes with the dyno kit shows to use two washers or 3. Mine only showed to use two and leave off the plastic spacer. This caused me a great deal of trouble. I never found out about it until a guy emailed me and he said he talked with a Dyno rep on the phone and that the rep said the instructions where wrong with some of the kits that were first shipped out.
Thanks and good luck. You will love it. With stock tires I can easly pull wheelies.

Kissofdeath if you remember you replied to my question about jetting maybe two months ago. I thought the jetting thing was a waste of time with no improvement based on dynojets initial settings for under 3000 feet using the stock exhaust and a K&N filter. Since then I have have raised the needle from the recommended #5 to the #4 goove and increased the main jet from the recommended 128 to a 130. These changes helped a lot! Especially since the recommended settings were counterproductive to the original factory settings. If anyone fine tunes beyond this it would be nice if the information were shared.
You asked about the spacers. My dynojet instructions show one spacer under the c-clip but instructions say to use all stock spacers. My yamaha service manual shows the plastic spacer and a washer under the c-clip. I installed them the same way they came out, using both spacers.

I dont guess I read the direction correctly then and I dont have a shop manual "yet". I just went by the diagram that came with the kit. If I never got that tip from the guy up north then I would still be cussing that jet kit. He is the one that recommended the 128 main and needle on the 4th notch. I did try the 130 main and it was more sluggish on the take off.
But, all that has changed since I converted my quiet core to a race core in my supertrapp. Now Im running the 130 main and the clip is on the 5th notch. I also swapped spacers and put the thicker metal one on the bottom to raise the needle a little bit more. I tried the 6th notch but it was too rich and didnt run as good.
If I time it just right, jerk the handelbars and sit down on the seat at the exact time the belt engages then I can get good wheelies with the 27" Mudbugs. The stock tires are very easy to wheelie now.
hangon, do me a favor, if you can tell in the shop manual, which metal spacer went where? I know there is a thick one and a thin one. I have the thick one on bottom. Also do you plan on getting a Supertrapp or other exhaust?
Thanks
