I can buy a 97 Kodiak with a 2000# winch, a new bumper, new blackwater tires, and a spotlight for $4000. Thats pretty good but i dont know much about the 97 model so, can anybody who does tell me anything i should know? Is it all that different than the 2000 model? If so, how? Thanks.

 

The 97 is completely diffrent from the 2000 model. the 97 is a five speed with auto clutch not fully auto. Also its not as sporty and is just a few cc's smaller. But 4000 is a good deal if it is a good running machine that has not been thrashed. Also the new blackwaters and winch up its value.

 

The 97 Kodiak is nothing at all like the 2000
the 97 was a pure workhorse and was not
as I have been told very good on the trails.

However it is known as one tough machine, they say "it won't go anywhere fast, but it'll go anywhere" , I've heard it's a real
good tow'r, takes absolutly hidious abuse
and keeps going.

The 97 and the 00, the only thing the same, is the name.

As for the Value of the 97, according to Kelly Blue Book, is Retail $4615(Assuming the dealer has brought the machine to a like new condition)
and Trade In $3225, in Good condition

The 2000 odiak may not be anything like it but the 2000 Big Bear is basically an updated version of that 97 Kodiak.

 

Except, the 97 Kodiak posesses less suspension travel, has a Dual range
transmission, and weighs a sustantial
amount greater 600+#.

Actually the 00 Big Bear is very similar to
the 99 Kodiak, with some updates most notable
a turning diameter of far more miniscule
measurement(nowitholding the new graphics, bumper and plastic).
