I called the dealer and asked what the best deal he could do on a raptor and for his last 02 he said the best would be $6200 +tax. but since your out of state you wouldnt get charged tax. He said he gave me such a good deal cause i buy a new quad from him almost every year. His number is 715-748-3242. Ask for pete.

just want to clear this up .....just because the rear shock is a piggyback style shock does not mean its cheeper or any less of a shock .they have the same guts inside less the braided line . the reason they changed to the piggy back shock is high volume of returns on people loosing and lettting the charge out of the rezzy shock ...the reason on them changing to a steal part on the suspention is it was breaking the aluminum part...and as far as the gearing goes the ratios are closer together witch inturn makes your raptor quicker . my cluthc is brand new but it is comming apart to get the hinson basket installed right away .the stock basket will overheat

TextThe trans problem is fixed in these i am sure cause the nuetral isnt as easy to find so the took the excess space out between the gears that the 01 had and should be a cure for the miss shifts and blown gears
mtecate4g,
On my 01 Raptor its hard to find neutral. I have to hunt between first and second to find it and sometimes it easier to find it if you are in second going down to neutral. I know on another post they say they have shifts that the Raptor goes into neutral when shifting from first to second. With the 01 I own the neutral space appears very small in its range. VIN above 15,000

Like the Banshee, the adjustment on the gear selector arm needs to be adjusted. If it is set too far in one direction or the other, gears are hard to hit.

raptor720,
I do see the adjustment on the shift lever. Is there an internal adjustment? I know I won't let loose of the clutch lever until I see the green light. Chet

It is actually located inside the side case behind the clutch. If I have one apart in the next few days, I will email a pix

Thanks for the info. I have gotten used to the finding the tight neutral. I am no mechanic so I wouldn't be messing with it. Right now mine runs good, shifts fine and hasn't left me stranded out in county. My only thing is a weeping water pump through the hole on the bottom. I have not had to add coolet but I watch the side tank. Chet

Hey guys,

On the coolant issue >>>> Don't ever use automotive coolant. It has silicates in it. The silicates will wear your pump seal and cause leaking.

I only use HONDA coolant. It is the best. Honda designed it for their Gullwing hogs after having serious water pump issues.

Then Texaco's Havoline extended life (DEX-COOL) should be OK. It is silicate and phosphate free. I have been using it in my cars and trucks for almost 3 years after seeing the benefits. Chet
