mudding and a 2002 wolverine
#2
I guess it depends on the type of mud you're talking about. With 25" tires (not mud tires)my Wolverine is as good as any bike that doesn't have mud tires, with the advantage that it's much easier to get unstuck by yourself. Put it this way. If I was going exploring alone, I'd rather be on the Wolverine than any other bike that doesn't have a winch. It's rare that I have to get off and push, and even rarer that I need someone elses help to get unstuck.

TKB is right. It all depends on what type of mud your are talking about and what type of tires you have on. The stock tires I would rate a 6.0 out of 10. You can do some descent mudding with these tires, but you best be getting a run at anything serious.Aftermarket tires... 25"ers are great, but you better be prepared to re-jet and put on an aftermarket exhaust and filter to turn these babies.
Hope that helps,

With 25", good quality mud tires, a Wolverine has an advantage over most other bikes in the mud, because of it's ground clearance, and low weight. Also, I find the high 1st gear helps because you can get and keep your momentum without having to shift up. The only thing I've seen other bikes have over the Wolv, is automatics. With the full range of power at their fingertips without having to shift, they can get through some pretty serious stuff.
