has any one ever done a drag between a 01 and a 02 raptor. which is faster? i heard that the 2002 has more top end due to the new gear ratios, is that true? which is faster/quicker?

probably a 2002, since the tranny is supposed to be geared better like, lower 1st 2nd and 3rd and its supposed to start leveling off on after that.

Hi guys,

Just to let you know. I rode my 2001 Raptor and my friends 2002 Raptor. I can tell you this much, the 2002 does have a slight difference in the transmission ratios. I rode both my machine and my friends machine in the woods and there was very little difference. I still had to be on the clutch when going through tight situations. As far as top speed is concerned, I'm not sure yet because he is still breaking his machine in. Once he has done that, I will race him.

Last night I raced a guy with a 02, mine's a 01. He said that it was still geared a little too tall for the track. He was already talking a smaller front sprocket. I have a 12 tooth on mine and have had no problems.

I would say the 2001, taller gears, better accelleration.
