Has any one faced up the Grizz 660 up to a 700 Twin?

i just can't believe how much the 700 weighs, 740 pounds is alot of bike ant the actual engine size is I think 683, not much bigger than the grizz, but who knows what the twin size will do for it, can't wait to see the grizz beat it's a$$ (hopefully)

One thing that you must keep in mind when comparing the weight of machines and that is what ply of tire does each unit come with. If you put the same tires on the Grizz that the sportsman 700 has on it, you would see a nominal difference between the machines. How many people have gone and bought a grizz just to put heavier, more aggressive tires on it? Would make for a fairer comparison then. I'll bet the Grizz would have a harder time in straight like drags. Not brand loyal, just making a point.

Who cares if the 700 is faster? It's still a Polaris POS. Just in a larger form. If it is faster, don't worry, the Grizzly will be faster over the long haul. And the Grizzly doesn't have the cheap controls and the cheap look either.
Don't even think about jumping on me for this Polaris guys. I worked at a Polaris dealership for 6 months before realizing what a wreck it was putting on my career. You guys can say what your dealer says, or what you experienced, or what you pulled, or how long your Jap bike lasted all you want. I've seen more POS in those 6 months than all my 10 years with the Japs. You have your opinion and I have mine. Besides, this is the Yamaha forum, keep your comments on the Polaris side if they are to degrade me, that way, I'll never see them. I'm not degrading anybody, just speaking from experience. Choose your words carefully as have I.

Knowsalot about what? You've got one heck of a poor attitude Pal. No wonder your career went in the dumps. As I stated, I'm NOT brand loyal, just rather see people comparing Apples to Apples when in comes to weight of bikes. Can't people figure out how much lighter aluminum rims are than steel, and how 2 ply tires are much lighter than rawhides? Are you so narrow minded ? There are things I hates and love about all the brands of ATV's out there.

Obviously you would rather talk about people rather than machinery. I refuse to sink to your level. As I said, it's MY OPINION! I didn't say that people are stupid for buying Polaris! I didn't say anything to degrade anyone who rides a Polaris. I spoke of only the truth as it has pertained to me, not anyone else. I knew that a few of you would complain. I hoped that some of you would actually read the post carefully enough to notice that. I don't take offense to anyone saying bad things about anything that I ride, own, previously owned, or about the products that I sell. I don't know you and you don't know me. My reputation as to what I do for a living is nothing like what you say. Save the character defamation for something worth it. I wasn't talking to you. If you have any comments to make to me,as a person, keep it off the computer and make it real.

Lighten up dude or go away. You sound like some old fart who is pissed off at the world.
Maybe what you need is to go out and ride your atv's some more and cool off.

The tires aren't going to make up for 140lbs. Not even close. I've seen them both, and the polaris tires will weigh more, but say they are 5lbs. apeice more. Hell, thats just 25lbs.
Say they are 10lbs. more (which they aren't). Thats just 50lbs. and we still have a 90lb. weight difference.
Honestly, thats not a big issue, because I rode the Sportsman in my own backyard and didn't notice the weight. I would have in a hairy situation granted, but for 90% of riding I couldn't tell a thing. Main thing about the weight of the polaris is that it didn't bounce around as much a very fast speeds over bumps, (I mean in the middle of a field, not on the dirt roads).
I couldn't tell one bit that a 700 is faster than my 660 though. I don't see it beating it on takeoff, though they could be right neck and neck. It didn't feel slower, but didn't feel faster either.
On the top end, I'll go with what I've heard about the 700. Supposed to have a good top end, where my 660 will top out at 60mph on the GPS.
The 700 impressed the crap out of me, but I already had the Grizzly, and I preferred the build of it anyway. Not build quality, I'm not bashing Polaris or anything. I mean the way it was built. Seems more easy to finagle out of tight spots where you have to get off and lift it or slide it out of a jam.
700 is a good bike. As far as speed between these two, its not a big difference, and both are faster than anything that was out this time last year or before that.

I have personally seen the Griz and the 700 drag race. Out of the hole they are close but the 700 is always pulling away. Clear up to the top end. One rider was 150lb and the other was 250lb. It didn't matter who was driving which because the 700 beat it either way. They also said that the Griz felt a little twitchy at higher speeds than the 700. Probably because the 700 is a longer machine and also the weight.
I'd bet the 700 could do alot better with some simple clutch mods. I read an article in dirt wheels that said the 700 with 500 clutching was hard to keep the front end down.
