I just got a pro-circuit pipe and silencer.
And i changed the main jet from a 240 to a 280
It bogs real bad when you shift the gears at full throttle on top end. My ? is what causes the bog, to lean or to rich? I live in Pa.
Should I go up or down on the main jet or somthing else.
Oh the plug is a grayish color

Please replie fast!!!

Thanks Ryan H.

Why did you go up so far in the main jet? The bogging at the top end means that you are running too rich on the main jet (280 is way too big). I am not sure you even need to go up when adding just a pipe and silencer but I would recommend going up one size in the main jet (from 240) and see how it runs on the top end. Your pilot jet affects from around 1/2 throttle on up to full throttle. Take a look at your plug when playing with jetting. If it is black then you are running too rich, but gray sounds about right. You can also contact pro-circuit and tell them your setup. They should be able to tell you what main jet size to use.

Also, fmfracing.com has a jetting guide and they recommend a 260 main when adding a fmf pipe and silencer to a blaster. This may be close to what you need. Good luck.

NO -you are not killing your motor , most pipes and silencers dont need you to rejet , they say that only if you want the most possible power from your blaster, and depending on what other work you have done to your motor.
if you added a pipe and silencer + a K&N air filter then jet up to the next size with a brand new plug , then run it for about 5 minutes if the plug looks good then your ok (gray color or lite black color) you guys can always try moving the needle in the carb down a notch or up depending on how rich or lean your running first. Hope this helps you.

right on jmoney45 " Take a look at your plug when playing with jetting. If it is black then you are running too rich, but gray sounds about right."

Checking your plug color is the only real way to tell. Altitude and air temperture has a big impact on what size jet you will use. I live at 6,000 ft, The jet I use will be different then at sea level. Mikuni makes a neat little slide card chart. Real handy.

Dude you dont need to go up that high just from a pipe... Go up 2 sizes from the 240 and start from there... Just in case you have any other jetting questions go to this website for answers, http://204.71.0.3/motoprof/moto/mcyc...1/carb101.html read through it as it contains everything that you need to know about jetting..
