Banshee 2 into 1 Carbs
#1
I'm setting up my Banshee for tight woods riding and would like to hear from others who have made this mod. I know Trinity, and Graydon Proline make this mod. Moto fast used to make this too, but I don't think their's is still available. I'd like to hear what size and type of carb works best for improving the bottom end without losing too much on top. Also, what aftermarket reeds work best with the 2 into 1 carb kits? The engine is stock at this point. I don't plan on doing much porting, although I may have some head work done. I want to keep this ride reliable. I have a 2 into 1 pipe on order with Moto fast, and also will be using a DuraBlue airbox bracket (similar to the Proflow, but half the price) with a foam filter. Thanks for your help!

I know it's weird replying to my own post, but I figure I'll put this information out here if anyone else can use it. I spoke with the people at Graydon Proline last night about their 2 into 1 carb setup. They told me not to try it if I'm using a MotoFast 2 into 1 pipe. They mentioned something about the Motofast pipe scavages the cylinder and that their carb kit will have jetting problems that can't be resolved when their carb kit is used in conjunction with this pipe. I appreciate their honesty, but this leaves me a bit confused. I thought that 2 into 1 pipe and carbs worked well together. Does anyone out the have this kind of setup on their Banshee. If so, I'd really like to hear from you. Thanks!

The pipes I think work best are the ct racing pipes. A while back they had a pipe shootout in 4 wheel action and they didn't rate the ct as the best because of the fit but once you get it to fit you wont regret it. The ct's had the highest horsepower output on the dyno and the power comes on real nice. I have the mx torque pipes and i have a killer midrange and top. Just a suggestion.

there was alot of problems in jetting and getting 2into1 carbs to idle I had the moto-fast pipe and carb no problems it ripped, although I have seen the Graydon carb with the Moto-Fast pipe I dont think there was any kind of problem alot of people have this set up because the moto-fast carb and manifold is so hard to get your hands on even new when I got mine I waited 5 months for it

Rocky, Thanks for the information! Were you saying that there were problems with jetting and idling with the motofast carb kit or the graydon proline carb kit? So, do you have the motofast pipe and carb on your banshee? If you do, how do you like it. What is the powerband like? Is there a bottom end? Do you need other mods along with the pipe and carb to make the whole thing work (like a head mod)? What other mods work well with that setup (reeds?) Where did you get the Lectron carb and throttle cables? I'd like to keep the thumb throttle. What about the manifold between the carb and airbox? I really appreciate your help and comments with this. This is not a popular setup and there doesn't seem to be anyone else posting any info or help. Thanks!

The problems I seen with the 2into1 carbs were the ones Last Rebel Racing were selling no matter what you did they didn't idle. I thought the Moto-fast 40mm Lectron set up was really good but hard to get, the graydon works very well also I have seen alot of banshee's with Moto-Fast pipes with Graydon carb and ran very well. Bikes with these set ups have a very smooth power band the is no hit like a banshee normally has but I loved it it was very fast killer bottom end alot of people complain about the top end but I raced alot and it is a very competative set up. I also reccomend adding alot more compression I had 17cc domes on my head.

I bought my Lectron set up from Moto-Fast this comes with the manifold and the adapter you need for the air box and thumb throttle cable from what I hear this kit is no longer avaible but I have not talked to Jimmy from Moto-Fast so I don't know how true it is, but there are hundreds of these kits raced on the GNCC circut so you should be able to find a used one. I have found that all the trick of the week and shiny alum. parts you see in all the mags(boost bottle, etc) do absolutely nothing with this set up so dont waste a ton of money on that stuff the next thing to look at is the suspension. Kim Kuhnle races pro in GNCC with a Moto-Fast banshee with the pipe, carb and manifold, cool head with 16cc domes,Axis suspension Roll a arms thats it the rest is bone stock

Thanks Rocky!
I have spoken with Jimmy about this setup and he can put me in touch with another company that can provide the carb, throttle cables, and manifold between the car and the cylinders, however he also said you may have to fabricate your own manifold that goes from the carb to the airbox. Have any ideas on where I might find this manifold Thanks for all your help and advice. I may contact you again when I get all the parts together. Thanks again!
