I know there are a lot of bikes set up this way and am wondering what is the Ideal combination of disks for the Mega Max 2, and how is everyone jetting there carb?

Currently I'm set up with a Mega Max 2 with 8 disks plus end cap and no silencer core, Pro Flow filter set up, and stock 140 main jet.

I ordered a K&N jet kit, it should be here any day. What size jet are you running and approximately what is the position of your mixture screw.

I ride averaging 1500 - 2500 feet above sea level and could use some advise on a good starting point (mixture wise).

On my last ride, it seemed to cut out intermittently. Felt like it was running out of fuel. if I shifted down, it came right back. I was not lugging it at all, but the higher rpm seemed to smooth it out.

This was before I added the pipe and the filter. Now it's running even leaner and I'd rather not burn it up by guessing the initial adjustments.

Mud_Runner,
You almost certainly need to go fatter on your main. I'd try a 145 for openers & test at 3/4 to full rpms..if no cutting out or flat spots, do a plug read.If the electrode is light tan or brown, you're on the money. If you plan to modify your airbox lid at all you'll no doubt have to go a size fatter on the main. I have a very negative opinion on jet kits in general, so I won't go there except to say that 99 9/10 of jetting can be done with rejetting the main and/or adjusting the jet needle position, which should be in the center slot in most cases.
As to the "ideal" no. of discs to run, there is no such standard as it depends on what you wish to accomplish; fewer discs gives you better low end & quieter operation...added discs gives more 3/4 to top end + more decibels

Thanks for the advice. I should have noted that I'm looking for low end torque and snappier response as opposed to top end. You can only go so fast in the woods. I need to do a plug read and see where I'm at.

I own a 95 wolverine I know they have a bigger carb but the jetting should be close to the same. I have the same pipe a FMF megamax2 and a K&N filter. I also vented the airbox lid with 15 1/2 inch holes. This really improves the throttle responce. I am
running 11 discs with end cap and no quiet
core . I,ve seen dyno sheets on this setup
and the 11 discs make the best power.I tried a dynojet kit in it and after having the carb on and off no less than 20 times I gave up. The kit was almost as disappointing as the technical help I tried to get from Dynojet!!! My carb setup is as follows: 142.5 main jet 40 pilot jet and 2nd
groove from top on needle. I had a little trouble at first with the jet sizes but I checked my float height and it was way off. After setting the float it all came together. This bike works excellent at all rpms . By the way to set your mixture screw just set it to get the highest idle possible without turning your idle speed screw .
