raptor vs banshee results (follow up)

ok so here is the follow up to my original post reguarding raptor vs the banshee.i went riding with my brother in law today.his banshee is ported and polished with tommy pipes and silencers,,it also has a cool head.we started down a strait sand road that runs about 2.5 miles..we didnt start off racing it started from about 3rd gear up ..i was peged full throttle on my wifes raptor (with graydon exhaust)and he sat there next to me for a second or two than just walked away from me..no contest at all..there were alot of wide sweeping turns on this road and we were able to realy slide them going wide open, one time i got a little sideways and thought i might of cut him off..i got down to the end of the road and he wasnt there..i rode back hoping i hadnt run him off the road.he was sitting on the side of the road (D.N.F)LT piston melted and the mighty raptor towed the wounded banshee back to the truck....i liked the power of my lt500 but love the reliabilty of a four stroke..2 stroke are rockets BUT ARE A LITTLE MORE TEMPERMENTAL.top end he killed me .if i was the kind of person who is bothered by it it would be killing me but my atv is in the garage ready to ride tomorrow..
HE RODE THE RAPTOR AFTER HE COOKED HIS AND LOVED THE SMOOTH POWER AND THE HANDLING.I THINK HELL GET ONE .

So the piped Banshee walked away from the piped Raptor? Good post. Glad to hear a Raptor get beat
It is common knowledge that you cannot hold a Banshee wide open for very long. Your brother melted his piston because of a rider error. Let off the throttle, and it won't happen.

Raptor's rule??? Maybe when you take inventory of the shop records, and see what quad has been in the most... Yes, the Raptor would rule that category.. LOL. I'm sure glad you guys have learned to take jokes about the almighty Raptor

DuneJammer, I'm not saying you're wrong, but don't you think it will do an engine harm to hold it wide open for 2.5 miles? The constant rev on the engine will cause it to heat up, and just like what happened to his brother, melt.

well i think it was rider error ,he didnt keep it peged the whole time he didnt need to he was playing with me..the error is the bike sat for almost a year with fuel in the carbs ,not run...i belive a jet got clogged with carb gunk..hes a mechanic and knows better,,lesson ,,dont get lazy..im sure hell have it fixed in a week or so.he didnt rag on me for not being as fast and i didnt mention his fried motor....my wife on the other hand said "i guess our machines are just superior"i later explained good sportsmanship to her..now she feels bad..
the temp gauges i make.i could not find one so i had to make it..i have 2 designs one you might have seen one on ebay before.its a digital temp gauge the size of a 50cent pice and mounts on the front fender in the crease..the new design i have is the same thing a digital temp gauge the size of a 50cent pice but attached to 2 feet of wire leed to the sender,,so it can be mounted any where(on any liquid cooled atv).i also make a banshee gauge like the one seen in dirt wheels but the probe is removeable for eazy maintance (calibration)the digital remote mount gauge needs no calibration and has replaced my banshee design as well as raptor.i love knowing how hot i am..it takes the raptor a while to warm up.did you know the fan kicks on at 214..the raptor doesnt feel warmed up till at least 145 to 155.truly warmed up at 175.....any way i stopped listing them on ebay because it was costing me too much to make them.(not to mention e bay fees)the pices to assemble were expensive and than i have the cost of brazing and welding.if any one wants one they are 45.00.plus shipping..just the parts cost me 25.00 before any drilling tapping and welding..
didnt mean to sound like an advertisement for my self sorry.
